Thursday’s introductions - Aneta Jakubowska

Who does what at Norian and what kind of people are we? In our Thursday’s Introductions- series, you get a peek into our day-to-day activities and the stories behind our employees. Today it’s time to meet another colleague.

I’m Aneta, Department Manager at ECIT Norian Poland — a role that feels like the right place for me, given that my connection with Nordic clients and culture goes all the way back to 2011.

BACKGROUND — How I got here

My journey in finance started almost 20 years ago, when I began working as an accountant, closely supporting local clients and learning the profession from the ground up. What began as curiosity quickly turned into a career spanning every corner of accounting — AP, AR, GL, reporting, and end-to-end finance operations.

In 2011, everything shifted. I moved into an international team, and from that point on, the Nordic countries became the heart of what I do. I’ve spent most of my time working with Finnish clients, but Sweden, Norway, and Germany have also been a regular part of my world. I have often travelled to these countries, building lifelong friendships and long-term business partnerships along the way. Supporting teams and clients across borders — through both steady-state operations and the high-pressure reality of large-scale migrations and system transitions — has shaped how I think about finance, leadership, and delivery.

MY ROLE — What does my work actually look like?

Today, I lead a team of accountants and advisors who help clients improve their finance processes and navigate complex migrations and system changes. My focus is on making things work better — guiding projects across systems and countries, ensuring smooth delivery, and establishing stable operations from day one.

I believe in efficiency, automation, and data-driven decisions that lead to lasting, measurable improvement. Change is part of my everyday work, and I’ve learned to see it not as disruption, but as an opportunity to learn, grow, and deliver more value each time.

What do I enjoy most? Building strong teams. Coaching professionals to grow in confidence, take ownership, and find real satisfaction in their work. That’s where I find meaning.

COLLABORATION AND CULTURE — What makes a great team?

For me, it comes down to one phrase: all for one, one for all. I do my best work in international environments, where different backgrounds and perspectives come together around shared goals. Some of the people I work with now have been part of the team since the very beginning and watching us grow together and learn side by side is something I truly value.

The best teams I’ve been part of are those where development never stops, where curiosity is encouraged, new technologies are explored, and no one is expected to stand still. That’s exactly the kind of environment I try to build — and the one I found at ECIT Norian.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE WORK — Who am I outside of spreadsheets and projects?

I’m someone who does her best thinking on a bike or a hiking trail — preferably with a backpack and mountain views somewhere in the distance. I love learning, which is reflected in my academic path: I hold degrees in History, Administrative Law, Finance and Accounting, as well as an Executive MBA. I’m also learning German — still a work in progress — and I stay curious about anything that connects people, processes, and technology in new ways.

Fun fact: I’ve visited Finland in every season, and those trips changed me in ways I didn’t expect. Watching Finnish people embrace the outdoors in any weather, I became a year-round cyclist and never looked back. More recently, I’ve added cross-country skiing to the mix.

Two Finnish memories I’ll never forget are my first Midsummer celebration and being in Finland when the national hockey team won the Ice Hockey World Championship. The atmosphere was unforgettable.

My motto? Keep exploring — in work, in life, in learning, and on every new trail.
